What the Webby Awards Are & Why We're So Proud

If you're not familiar with the Webbys, here's some context. Established in 1996 during the Web's infancy, The Webby Awards are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), a 3,000+ member judging body made up of leading internet experts, technologists, designers, and creative figures. The award has been called "The Oscars of the Internet," and The New York Times has described it as "the Internet's highest honor."

This year's competition received more than 13,000 project submissions from around the world. Being nominated already placed LALAL.AI in the top 11% of all entries. Winning the People's Voice award puts us in even more exclusive company.

The Webby Awards present two honors in every category: The Webby Award, decided by the Academy, and The Webby People's Voice Award, decided entirely by the voting public. Each year, the People's Voice Awards garners millions of votes from all over the world.

We won the People's Voice. That means this award was decided by people like you.

Who We Competed Against

In the Best Use of AI & Machine Learning category, LALAL.AI went up against some of the most recognized names in the AI space: Adobe Premiere Object Mask, Beeble AI, Captions AI, and Cosmos. These are serious, well-resourced competitors, which makes your support all the more meaningful.

A Double Recognition

The People's Voice win isn't the only distinction we received this year. LALAL.AI also received a Webby Honoree distinction in the Creator, Creative, and Media Tools category under Apps, Software & Immersive—recognition awarded to the top 25% of all entries in a given category.

This Award Is Yours

The People's Voice Award exists for a reason: it puts the power of recognition in the hands of the community, not just a panel of judges. When we set out to build a stem splitter, we had a clear goal: give musicians, producers, and creators a tool that actually works, one that handles the messy, layered, imperfect audio of real-world music without mangling it. Years of research and iteration went into making that possible.

But none of it would mean anything without the people who use it.

Every vocal you isolated, every stem you split, every remix you made possible — that's what shaped LALAL.AI into a product worth recognizing. And when it came time to vote, you showed up. Thank you, genuinely.

What's Next

Winners will be celebrated at the 30th Annual Webby Awards ceremony in New York City on May 11th, where they will have the opportunity to deliver one of The Webby Awards' famous 5-Word Speeches. We're already thinking about what five words could possibly capture this moment, though "thank you" covers most of it.
