Title Track Day

Every year on the fourth Friday of May we hold a celebration of National Title Track Day, also known as Title Track Appreciation Day. Songs of the same title as the albums they are from are often the focal point, the center of gravity, and the very heart and soul of the records. They deserve to be recognized and appreciated because they define the whole album.

A lesser-known definition of the title track is a soundtrack of the same name as the movie in which the song is featured. There have been many cases when movies were made more memorable by their OST. There are also surprising combos like Prince’s “Purple Rain” – it’s the title track of his album and the theme song of the Purple Rain movie!

The Origins of Title Track Day

It’s unclear when exactly title tracks started to get annually celebrated but since their function is overlooked by many, we believe that the observance tradition should be continued! The title track has the power to turn the entire album into a massive hit that can launch the artist into stardom and worldwide recognition.
