How to Reduce Background Noise in Audio

If you're recording a podcast or video, removing background noise is a must because it can make your audio sound much more professional and polished. Noise canceling also makes it easier to hear and decipher speech when you're transcribing an audio recording. In addition, noise removal helps people with hearing impairments better understand the audio and what's being said.

But how do you remove noise from audio recordings? There are many ways to clean up audio, but one of the quickest and easiest is to use LALAL.AI Voice Cleaner. This service doesn't require any installation and is always available online on any mobile or desktop device. What's more, Voice Cleaner is based on powerful AI technology that ensures not only fast but also high-quality results.

Follow the simple steps below to remove background noise and other unwanted sounds from your audio.

  1. Open LALAL.AI Voice Cleaner.
  2. Click Select Files to upload your audio file. The service supports MP3, OGG, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, AAC formats.
  3. Wait a few seconds until the audio is processed.
  4. Click (‎▶) next to the Voice preview. You will hear a portion of the voice or vocal sound separated from the background noise.

Tip: If you think that the preview sounds overcompressed, or you hear the sound of noise leaking into the voice track, try changing the Noise Canceling Level. This setting is located to the left of the previews.

In the Noise Canceling Level section, select one of the following levels:

  • Mild to apply no additional compression.
  • Normal to enable soft compression.
  • Aggressive to add very aggressive compression.

After that, click the Create New Previews button. Adjust the Noise Canceling Level until you get the desired effect.

  1. (This step applies only to premium users) Select the output format. If you want to get the results in the same format as the file you uploaded, skip this step.
  2. If you want to export the results in another format, click the arrow on the Split in Full button and pick a format from the drop-down list.

  3. Clean up the track in full. Below the preview section, select either Starter (Free) or one of the paid packs.
  4. Sign up and click the Split in Full button.
  5. Click the download icon (⤓) within the Vocal [Full] section.

If you selected the Starter pack, you will be able to listen to the entire track online.

If you’ve selected the Lite or Plus pack, you will be able to listen and download the full track.

The resulting file will be downloaded in the same format as the file you originally uploaded, unless you performed the fifth step. The download links will also be sent to your email.
