How to Remove Vocals and Split Stems on Mobile with LALAL.AI for iOS and Android

LALAL.AI mobile apps for iOS and Android serve up a smart way to separate audio stems from your favorite songs and videos right on your phone. The apps support all common audio and video formats like MP3, WAV, FLAC, MP4, MKV, and more, allowing you to remove vocals and isolate drums, bass, guitar, piano, and other instruments with great accuracy.

Before you download, you can preview the separated stems to hear exactly what you’re getting. There’s also a noise reduction option that cuts out unwanted sounds like clicks, hiss, mic pops, and other background noises, helping you make the stems cleaner and more useful for remixes, mashups, karaoke versions, podcasts, and other purposes.

Batch uploading lets you process up to 20 files at once, saving time if you have several tracks to split. You can choose which stems to extract from each file individually, or apply the same settings across all uploads. The app handles the rest, queuing up files for smooth processing.

Both the iOS and Android versions run on the same proprietary neural networks and offer the same key features, so you can work on vocal or instrumental removal, stem separation, and noise canceling from your phone anytime, both at home and on the go.

How to Remove Vocals or Extract Other Stems on Mobile

All you need to get started is to pick up your phone or tablet and install the LALAL.AI app. You can find the iOS version in the App Store and the Android version on Google Play. After that, follow the steps below.

1. Open the App and Upload Your File

Launch the LALAL.AI app on your iOS or Android device. Tap the Add Files button and select the audio or video file you want to process from your phone’s storage.

The app supports MP3, OGG, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, AAC, M4A, AVI, MP4, MKV, MOV, M4V, so most files will work.

2. Choose the Stem to Extract

The "Vocal & Instrumental" stem selection.

After the file uploads, the app will ask which stem you want to separate. Options include Vocal & Instrumental, Voice & Noise (for reducing noise in voice and vocal recordings), Drums, Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Piano, Synthesizer, Strings (for isolating collective string instruments), and Wind (for collective wind instruments).

Tap the stem you want to be isolated, then tap Continue to confirm your selection.

3. Adjust the Settings

Depending on the selected stem, you will see different setting options. Adjust them as you see fit.

At this stage, you can also choose whether to enable or disable a short stem preview, allowing you to listen before processing the full track.

4. Start the Stem Splitting

Simply tap the Start Processing button to initiate the splitting process.

If you’ve left the Create preview setting enabled, you will first receive a short stem preview. To process the entire file, tap the Full button. In a short while, you'll see a fully prepared stem.

5. Download the Stem

Tap the three-dot menu and select the Download option. Your stem will be saved in the same format and quality as your original file.

How to Extract More Stems from the Same File (Without Re-Upload)

One of the most useful features of the LALAL.AI mobile app is that you don’t need to upload your file again if you want to extract different stems.

Under your initially extracted stem, tap the Select Stem button to return and pick another audio element from the same source.

It saves time and data, letting you quickly switch between vocals, drums, bass, or any other instrument without having to repeat the upload process.
