The origin of this holiday is unknown, yet, historically, every year on February 11 the United States celebrates National Guitar Day, also known as Get Out Your Guitar Day. It encourages anyone interested in playing guitar, virtuosos and beginners alike, to pick up the instrument and strum the strings with all their might.

Guitar has had a huge impact on music as a whole. The US is not the only country that embraced the soothing guitar sound - nearly every culture has its own style of guitar and specific approach to playing it. It’s safe to say that love of guitar is universal, so wherever you are from and wherever you are now, today is the day to celebrate Guitar Day.

How to Celebrate Guitar Day

As a way of celebrating, you can take part in some guitar-related activities. If you are more keen on spending the day in a more chill and laid-back manner, listen to your favorite guitar music, gather friends to jam, play Guitar Hero or even air guitar - it’s a totally valid option and a fun way to celebrate the guitar that’s accessible to everyone!

If you want to contribute to the development of guitar craftsmanship, support guitar players from  local bands and sharpen your own guitar playing skills. Take advantage of the technology we have today - watch YouTube lessons to learn new techniques, use the specialized apps and online services to practice the guitar.

How to Get Better at Guitar Playing

Since LALAL.AI is a music source separation service, it may not strike you as the obvious go-to tool for learning guitar. However, its AI-powered stem extraction algorithm allows you to accurately cut the (acoustic or electric) guitar out of the mix of any song and use it to train your ear and make guitar covers.

With a guitar track isolated from the rest of the instruments and vocals, you can better understand the composition and use it to learn the guitar part by ear. After you’ve practiced the part, you can turn on the stem with the rest of the music except guitar, and fill the guitar part in by playing along on your own instrument.

Here is how to get isolated guitar stem and the stem with the rest of the music in one go:

  1. Open LALAL.AI in your browser.
  2. Click the Vocal and Instrumental button. It will open the full Stem Separation Types list.
  3. Select either Acoustic guitar or Electric guitar in the drop-down menu.
  4. Click the Select File button to upload your file.
  5. Play the stem previews  - one containing the guitar track, the other with the rest of the music.
  6. Sign up and click Process the Entire File if you like what you hear. If you don’t, upload another version of the track or try another file.
  7. Click the download icon (⤓) next to the stems to save them.

That’s it! The extracted stems will be saved in the same format and quality as the track you’ve uploaded. The download links will also be sent to your email.

Happy Guitar Day!
